Questions
Frequently asked questions
Is there a trial lesson?
Yes. You can book a single group lesson or a single one-to-one lesson with no commitment. If you continue, choose a monthly plan or lesson pack afterwards.
How do you decide which group my child joins?
Groups are organised by school year. Before your child starts, a short readiness check helps us place them and tells the tutor what each child is working towards, whether that's the 11+, an entrance exam or the SATs.
What if my child is ahead of, or behind, the rest of the group?
Every group has five pupils at most, so tasks can be adjusted for each child. If we think a different group or one-to-one lessons would suit your child better, we'll tell you.
What happens if we miss a lesson?
For group lessons, we send the lesson materials and home task so your child can catch up. One-to-one lessons can be moved with 24 hours' notice.
How much homework is there?
Usually 20 to 30 minutes a week. It's marked and returned with feedback before the next lesson.
Do you run mock exams?
Yes. Year 5 and Year 6 pupils complete timed practice papers, and full mock papers before key exams, with feedback on where marks were gained and lost.
Can you guarantee a place at a selective school?
No one honestly can. What we can promise is clear teaching, regular feedback and an honest view of your child's progress, so you can make informed decisions.
Can you advise on which schools or exams to aim for?
We can explain how different 11+ and entrance exams work and what they demand, and give an honest view of your child's readiness. Final school choices are, of course, yours.
Can I watch my child's lessons?
We ask that a parent or carer is at home during lessons, but please don't help during the lesson. It's important we see what your child can do on their own. You'll get regular updates afterwards.
My child has additional learning needs. Can you help?
Please tell us during the consultation. We'll talk honestly about whether a small group or one-to-one lessons would suit your child best.
What if we have technical problems?
If a connection drops, your child can rejoin with the same link. If we have a problem on our side, we'll reschedule or replace the lesson.
How do lesson packs work?
Lesson packs are paid upfront and used at your own pace within four months. You can use them for any session on the timetable that matches your child's year group.
How do I cancel?
Monthly plans can be cancelled at any time before your next billing date, and you won't be charged again.
